Two Of My Favorite Golf Courses

By Terry Powell

Many golf players love to play in different courses, and they may tell you that each course provides a different experience. It is difficult to come up with a list of the best golf courses in the world, as different golfers obviously have different standards, not to mention there are far too many courses to choose from! If you ask me, I can tell you that I really like a course that is driven by a rich historical background, filled with world class facilities, surrounded by breath-taking scenery, and is rising in popularity.

Although it is difficult for all golf players to reach an agreement on the best course in the world, I still feel like to share with you two of my top favorites where you can play this wonderful game. I vote for them not just for the technical challenge they impose on golf players, but also for the extra features that adds to your golfing fun.

1. The Eagle Point Golf Club

Situated in the eastern part of North Carolina, this par-72 gold club has lots of loyal customers. With its vast area of green land, you can choose to walk as you go through different holes. The club's caddie service has received plenty of positive comments, and you also get to enjoy tennis and swimming in addition to golfing.

The club has more than 7,000 yards of golfing grounds, with a 74.5 rating and replete with 137 slopes for golf players to test their mettle. Besides, the challenge for player is enhanced by the prevailing wind from the Atlantic Ocean. The club looks traditional at the first glance, but it is filled with top rated facilities. For those who would like to further their golfing skills, the high-tech learning center was built just for that purpose. In addition to all these attractions, the golfers also get to enjoy the unbeatable nice weather year round and the great private retreat. It is no surprise that this low-profile club has always had very good business since its opening.

2. The Concession In Florida

This golf club was foundered by Jack Nicklaus and Tony Jacklin, two of the legendary persons in the golfing field. Since its official launch in 2006, the club has been featured in many of the famous golf publications like Golfweek.

This club has a coverage of 7,470 yards, with 155 slopes and 77.6 rating. This, coupled with its amazingly beautiful landscaping and fairway bunks, has made it a most challenging yet enjoyable golfing course for players. If you would like to know how its name derived, we need to look back to 1969 when Nicklaus yielded a three-foot putt. That act of sportsmanship was all needed by the British team (led by Jacklin) to tie with the Americans. Although the Americans were the winners of the tournament, the act was forever etched in the annals of the sporting world. Many years later, the two golf legends teamed up to develop a golf club on a 1,200-acre property, which is the Concession In Florida we get to enjoy today.
