Locating Wedding Caterers Essex And The Surrounding Area

By Tim Travers

If you are trying to find the best wedding caterers Essex can offer, you will be happy to know that it is not difficult. All you need to do is give yourself enough time to plan so that you can book essential wedding services like a caterer in plenty of time for your wedding.

Directories are great because you can get contact information very easily for different professionals. Ideally, there should be a web link offered in the directory listing rather than just a contact number. If you are able to check out a website and get a feel for a particular caterer it will make it easier to get a feel for a particular service provider before you contact them.

Remember that reputation and reliability are important in a caterer. Because you are going to be putting a deposit down to reserve a particular caterer, you want to make sure they will still be around to provide you with the services you have contracted them for. A list of providers who have been approved by the Local Authority can help you find trustworthy caterers.

Do you have a friend who was married recently? Did you attend the wedding? If so, did you like the food? If you liked the food you may want to consider asking your friend who their caterer was. Then, see if they are available for hire and what their rates are.

A contract may be your best protection should the relationship between you and your caterer break down. It should specify what the deposit was and when it was paid, what the agreed on meal plan is, and any other clauses or particular items which you feel are most important. It can make settling up accounts much more stress free when both parties know exactly what is expected of them.

Planning a wedding takes more than good taste and happiness. It also takes a willingness to ask about information you are unsure of and being willing to walk away if a deal goes badly. This is your special day and you want to make sure that all aspects of your reception, especially the food, are memorable and will stay in people's minds in a good way.

Choosing The Right ATV Trailer

By Jackie Michaels

It's very difficult to make decision to buy ATV trailers, when you see many choices. This article gives you guidance to select a perfect one that fulfill your requirements. There is misconception to use terms trailer, wagon and cart interchangeably. Actually these 3 terms are basically different in nature.

Basically a trailer has a non-steerable front end and describes one unit to several axles. Units are designed in a manner so that can be trail behind of the tow vehicle. Plus point of trailer is the language, fixed in position, which enable support much easier. It is dependent on tow vehicles brake system mostly and keeps the unit straightens during braking due to strong/hard front end of unit.

A cart can be pushed like a wheelbarrow because it has a single axle. When the brake applied on tow vehicle, cart will automatically stopped and will remain straight due to its rigid front end.

A wagon is different from a cart because it has a steerable front end. A wagon can be controlled independently behind of the tow vehicle due to its steerable front end. No doubt controlling a wagon behind a tow vehicle is difficult task. The one of major advantage of a wagon other than its own braking system is that, it can be turn to the side when going downhill on steep grades.

It's common perception that ATV trailers are same like as a lawn trailer except its huge size. People who purchased ATV trailers of limited feature faced problem a lot latter on. A professional can work with a solid and heavy duty trailer for their purposes.

A roller bearing in a quality ATV trailer allows running it to at higher speed for an extended period of use. To prevent axle failure in rough terrain it should be mounted so the frame can flex. This feature can also be obtained in some trailers, within larger ATV tires at low pressure for absorbing shock due to rough terrain.

The material for cargo beds of ATV trailers should be focused on easily replacement in nature, therefore wood, steel, and poly is often used. Wood being used for this purpose primarily. Easy to paint on steel body is one of the major advantages of using steel. Few years ago poly cargo beds were commonly used, because it prevented it from cracking and breaking in swear weather conditions.

Poly has advantage over wood and steel, in that it never rusted or rotted as wood and steel does. While using aluminum for this purpose its important to keep in mind that there is draw back of white-corrosion issues with bare aluminum exposed to the weather due to dissimilarity due to metal corrosion.

A Couple Of Quick Hollywood Movie Summaries To Go Over

By Margery Duffy

With a shop near every neighborhood, video stores have been the most convenient way to get movies for years. Now, with internet usage exploding, movie downloads are becoming very popular. You can get virtually any movie you want with a good movie download site. Here are some examples.

The Defiant: A preoccupying tale of 2 escaped convicts, one black and one white who are chained together as they escape from prison in the South. The Muse: Brooks plays a Hollywood screenwriter who's informed that he's out of touch until he hooks up with a genuine muse Rock, a capricious lady whose performing methods are unorthodox at best. As with tons of Brooks' films, the parts are better than the entire thing, although his gibes at Hollywood are valuable, and some of the cameo appearances which we come observe are extremely funny. Cast includes Albert Brooks, Sharon Rock, Andie MacDowell, Jeff Bridges, Mark Feuerstein, Steven Wright, and Bradley Whitford. (96 minutes, 1999)

The Net: Angela Bennett is a computer geek. She receives a program, and is asked to de-bug it. Shortly after receiving the program, the man who sent it to her is killed. Hannah Takes The Stairs: This film is every bit as unfocused and self-indulgent as its eponymous heroine. It's a Chicago production organization wage earner gratingly played by Gerwig who drifts through a succession of short-lived relations that aren't romances so much as one night stands. Cast includes Greta Gerwig, Kent Osborne, Andrew Bujalski, Ry Russo, and Mark Duplass. (83 minutes, 2007)

Metropolis: A private investigator and his nephew track a suspect to the futuristic Metropolis, meet a bizarre gal who is really an extremely commanding android, and decipher a message sent by a rebel forces leader who plans to take over the city. This is an amazing Japanese animated movie. It is written by Katsuhiro Otomo Akira, based on a visual novel by Osamu Tezuka called Astro Boy. Rich backdrops balance with cartoon looking lead characters, although dramatic storytelling and commanding visuals defeat film's shortcomings. Cast includes Kei Kobayashi, Kohki Okada, Taro Ishida, and Kousei Tomita. (106 minutes, 2001)

Liar Liar: Fletcher Reede is a hard working lawyer who is constantly disappointing his wonderful young son. Eventually, before blowing out the candles at his birthday, Max makes his wish. He wants his father to not be able to lie for one full day. The results are absolutely hilarious.

Try "Free Downloads Movies" if you want to find some downloads. A change in the phrase will sometimes get a better result. Switch to "Rent DVD Movies Online" and see if you find what you are looking for.

Learn To Read The Water To Catch More Fish

By Steve Utley

Fishing is like reading a book. The difference is this is a living book. Like a book, you start out by looking at the cover. Only, when you are fishing the cover is the weather conditions. You look at the wind, sun, tide, humidity, and the temperature of both the air and the water. With this knowledge, you can make the decision about how you will be fishing - by boat, kayak, or wading, using light tackle or fly. Then you can choose where you want to fish and what you are going to fish for.

Knowing where to cast once you are on the water can make all the difference in the world. Early on, be quiet and pay attention to any activity around you. Especially notice any schools of mullet or shrimp that are jumping around. Sometimes they are just playing around, but often times this can be a sign that larger game fish are chasing them. Casting in that direction is often a good place to start. Underneath the surface of the water you may also see smaller crabs that are being chased by predators.

Birds are another great fishing indicator, especially when they are feeding. My favorites to follow are the blue heron, pelicans and gulls. All of this wildlife activity is useful if you know how to read it. Not only can it help to find fish but also give clues as to what they are feeding on.

In addition to wildlife activity, what is beneath the surface matters a lot as well. Look for different structure where you are fishing, like drains. In between islands and sand bars there will be gaps where water flows through. These are high-traffic areas for bait fish, so there are usually predators nearby. I like to sit near the sides of these areas and cast into them, even more so when there is a lot of tidal movement.

When you get into this drain area, try starting off with a top water lure first. This lure is good for recon as fish nearby will usually strike at it, giving you a quick indication as to whether or not there are any fish in the area. Once you see a strike, switch over to a soft plastic fishing lure that will give you the advantage on that big speckled trout. I always throw a weedless lure, about 3 casts into each section before looking for somewhere else.

The lure I use most often is the Sea Devil by Brown Lures. Usually the Pink Hologram color works best for me, but they have a bunch of different colors for any situation. This color works well for me whether the water is dark or clear. This is pretty much my go-to plan in almost any situation.

Learning to read weather conditions, wildlife activity and structure will give you a definite advantage once you get out on the water. The living book is there, you just need to learn what it all means and use that to your advantage. Give it a shot and let us know how it works for you. Please be courteous on and off the water, and take more trash than you bring. Happy Fishing!

Small Diesel Generators Store

By James Morley

Generators can sound complicated but really their concept is quite easy . A generator can also be used as a backup for your solar power system. And if you go anywhere that you need power but just can't plug in, like a campground or a new construction site, a small generator will fill your needs.

Diesel power gives you some advantages over gasoline power. A diesel engine has less maintenance because it has no ignition system, carburetor or spark plug. This becomes especially important if your engine is used only intermittently.

It's important to shop around for your generator , How much generator power do you need? Generators are usually indicated by watts. Find out how much wattage you need and buy your power source accordingly. Do not be too stingy. The last thing you want is to suffer a brownout. You should overcompensate and make sure you have at least twenty percent more than any calculation.

A diesel engine can also run on alternative fuel sources like biomass. They also produce less harmful emissions than gasoline engines. Finally, they consume much less fuel.

Do your homework before buying. Make sure that you have the right small diesel generator for your situation. If it is being used near a home, campground, or concert, you need to think about noise reduction. You should also consider size and weight. If at all possible, get a generator with a set of wheels so that you don't have to lug it around.

When does a small diesel generator fit your needs? If you live somewhere where blackouts can become an issue at times and getting the power turned back on may be a problem.

Diesel power gives you some advantages over gasoline power. A diesel engine has less maintenance because it has no ignition
system, carburetor or spark plug. This becomes especially important if your engine is used only intermittently. When you want power, you want power, and you don't want to spend too much time making sure that happens. A small diesel engine will

Too Legit to Fit

By James Pynn

From the refuge of the few to the new equivalent of the English major, film schools have become very popular. When I went to college it wasn't a particularly popular major. In fact, it was something of a non-major. Now, of course, it's particularly fashionable and there is a certain panache that come with telling people you are a film major. As the culture is more and more inundated with entertainment, the more prominent film majors become. Does this cheapen the degree? A mute point, perhaps.

To my surprise, as my time in film school came to an end, I became more and more interested in method acting and started to write my own scripts. This led me to realize most of my fellow cohorts in the field were not particularly interested in cinema, per se. Rather, they were interested in the glamor, mostly fabricated, of being a film major. What was the big deal about DeMille, Welles, Brando, or Dean? After all, at the end of the day it was about how one looked, not what one did.

Though you would think all film majors would have a film collection, you would be wrong. I was only one of a handful of students who actually had a collection of laser discs. As the year progressed, I began to decipher which students were truly interested in film and which were mere, prancing posers. The most notable tell was the fact the students who truly loved film did not cared much for how well they were dressed or groomed.

Film demands a certain appreciation that doesn't leave much time or inclination to craft a "look." We didn't gather in large groups or waste all of our parent's money on pub- crawls. We used all of our resources to obtain the best quality films, scripts, and biographies we could find. More importantly, we used our money to buy tickets to art-house screenings.

When I troll through the local bookstores or movie shops, I see a generation of film lovers keeping the flame of appreciation alive. The mediums change, from VHS to laser disc to DVDs and now to Blu-Ray, but the sentiment is still the same. The desire is still the same: to watch, to be engrossed, and to learn a little bit more about what it means to not only be a movie fan, but a human being.

Top 8 Ways To Spot A Poker Bluff (Even Online!)

Spotting a poker bluff online is tricky. In offline play, you can watch body language and get physical cues as to when someone is bluffing. Usually unless they are a professional, all poker players give off signs they are bluffing through body language. Online, though, you don't have the ability to read body language, so how can you tell if someone is bluffing?

People still give off signals, even online, that they are bluffing. Some are better at covering, but others are a little loose and easy to catch. Either way, the following are 8 ways that you can spot a poker bluff online.

1. Pay attention to chatter. Some people cannot seem to hold their tongue. Some people who bluff will be chatting away. What they say may not match up to how they play and that is what you are watching for. Players may just reveal their bluff in what they say without ever realizing it.

2. A person bluffing may raise before the flop and quickly raise again. They are driving up the pot and hoping you don't have a hand you feel confident about.

3. If someone jumps into the game quickly or chooses to sits out and then changes their mind right as the cards are being dealt then they are someone to watch. They probably won't have a good hand, but are simply impatient. If they keep raising or they call quickly then chances are they are bluffing.

4. It is always smart to watch someone who goes all in with a low show on the table. This person may just be ready to call it a day and figures why not go out on a high note.

5. Get to know playing styles. The best players mix up their style, but your average player will usually follow the same general patterns. If someone starts playing odd then they should be watched. They may have a good hand, but chances are they are trying to bluff. Get to know the other players styles so you can spot when things are not quite right.

6. Watch aggressive or loose players. If you notice someone who is always playing aggressively then you never really know when to trust them because they cannot possible have an amazing hand every time.

7. Another thing about watching players - watch what is shown at the end. If someone keeps falling short then you know they like to bluff and you will keep an eye on them in the future.

8. People who play fast are a danger. Someone who is just playing fast and not putting thought into what they are doing is a loose cannon. They may not even have a clue how to play. Don't let them get you. Watch what they play and don't buy into their bluff.

These 8 ways to spot a poker bluff should help you to start being able to cut through the bluffs that are thrown your way online. After some practice and some time you should start to be able to spot online bluffs just as easily as you do during an offline game.

The Lost Untangled Will Help You Untangle Some Of The Mysteries

By JD Theis

Come 2010, and the lost TV show along with lost untangled will come to an end. People loved watching lost untangled as much as they did watching the lost TV show. May be because the lost untangled provided a lateral view of the events that have already taken place on the island.

For me lost untangled was a simulative way of reviewing and rechecking the incidents that took place last on the show and also cross checking the assimilated information. Sometimes, it would so happen that on the basis of a certain episode I reached my own conclusion concerning one or more aspects of the lost but the lost untangled clip corresponding to that particular episode made vain all my efforts as I had missed out on an important information during the telecast. The info which the narrator so explicitly pronounced in the lost untangled clip.

With the telecast of the lost season one and lost season two itself, I realized that lost for me was not just another TV drama...it had become an obsession, especially during the months it was an air. When the ABC people came up with the concept of lost untangled, it was like icing on the cake, a sort of double treat which we all happily lapped up.

Lost untangled, unlike the lost TV show, doesn't require so much time, effort and money to make. The whole concept is centered on a narrator and the animated action figures of the character-actor from the show.

So one can easily conclude that the whole concept of lost untangled was somewhere more profitable for the ABC executives than the show itself. Because even if it generated half of the shows TRP, its cost was less than one-fourth of it.

To know more about lost untangled and check out all the lost untangled clips, including those on lost season one and lost season two, visit www.lost-tv-show.com , the best site dedicated to the Lost on the World Wide Web. In addition to watching and even reading the full episodes of the lost TV show, you may also participate in umpteen numbers of contests that await you there.

Positive vs Negative Focus

By Jason Kendall

Look in any bookshop at their Best Seller list today, and you'll see a mass of autobiographies of the rich and famous. From empire builders to glamour models to footballers, they all tell a different story, but each has a thread in common - they focused on the positives and overcame adversity.

That's the way of the world; life's achievers allow positive reasons why 'they can' to flood their consciousness, and drown out negative reasons why they can't.

This attitude to studying is paramount for the student. To successfully complete a training program, an optimistic mindset is the biggest tool in a trainee's workbox. A positive approach brings about all sorts of possibilities, circumstances, answers and opportunities to achieve. By contrast, a pessimistic outlook blocks our learning receptors and thwarts creativity .

This is due to our Reticular Activation System, which is a mechanism in our brain that automatically tells us what to focus on. We've experienced many things throughout our lives that no longer stay in the forefront of our minds - most of what we've learned moves from our conscious mind to our sub-conscious mind, a sort of store cupboard stocked up with all our past knowledge and beliefs.

When we attempt consciously to do something, our RAS (Reticular Activation System) will search for any relevant information in the sub-conscious mind, and bring it to our attention. If we're taking a walk down a street, only the things that have meaning to us will be noticed - the rest is just background noise.

This means that if our conscious mind has been regularly sending messages that are upbeat and positive to our sub-conscious mind, then that's what it will transfer back. But if our sub-conscious has been given loads of downbeat and defeatist messages, then that's equally what will be sent back.

It seems that achievers are able to manipulate the messages filtered through to their sub-conscious minds by deliberately programming their RAS and choosing the exact messages the conscious mind sends. This makes it an essential tool for achieving goals, as the sub-conscious mind can't distinguish between real or imaginary events.

In other words, as it believes what it's told, we need to create a very specific picture of our goal in our conscious mind. The RAS will then pass this on to our subconscious - which will then help us achieve the goal. It does this by bringing to our attention all the relevant information which otherwise might have remained as 'background noise'.

Napoleon Hill said that we can achieve any realistic goal if we keep on thinking of that goal, and stop thinking any negative thoughts about it. Of course, if we keep thinking that we can't achieve a goal, our subconscious will help us not to achieve it.

How To Count Cards

Card counting is a common strategy used to play and win at blackjack. If you have wanted to learn how to count cards, but have been worried it is too hard, then read on. You are about to learn simple steps to counting cards that will get you started. If you want additional information there are plenty of great resources all over the internet that teach the various methods of card counting. This should be enough, though, to get you started in card counting.

The high-low system is one of the most common methods of counting cards. It is also one of the easiest systems to understand. Before you start to learn how to count cards, you need to understand that card counting is not really about counting the actually number of cards, but rather figuring the ratio of high to low cards that remain in the deck. It may seem confusing, but just follow along and you should start to understand.

Assigning Values

In the high-low system you will assign point values to each card. Low cards include 2,3,4,5 and 6. These cards get a value of plus one. High cards are the 10,jack,queen,king and ace. These cards get a value of minus one. Neutral cards are the 7,8 and 9. They get no value assigned to them.

To begin with learning to count cards you should practice memorizing the values of each card. Go through a deck over and over reciting the card values until you are sure you have them memorized.

Keep the Running Count

Once you are feeling that you have the card values memorized you can start working with keeping a running count. This is more practice to get you ready for the actual game.

To keep a running count you start with a value of 0. As you flip over cards from your deck you will add or subtract the values. For example, if you have a king, queen, 2 and 8 you would end up with a count of minus 1.

Keeping the running count will likely take much more practice that just memorizing the values. It is essential, though, that you get keeping the running count down perfectly. You should keep practicing until it becomes like second nature and you don't hesitate anymore in figuring the count.

True Count

Once you are ready to play an actual game and count the cards during the game you will go from a running count to the true count. To do this you keep the running count and divide it by the number of cards remaining in the deck. The true count will tell you what to bet.

If the true count is positive then bet more. If it is negative then don't bet as much. This allows you to play smart and only bet when you have a good chance of winning. In the end you will likely win more than you lose. Card counting can be a great way to start improving your odds at the blackjack table and help you start to make more when you play.

By Simon Mason

With increasing health consciousness and the desire of keeping the body in good shape gaining momentum, people are increasingly registering their names in gyms. However, if you have already burnt your body fat, you have to concentrate on developing muscles to achieve that ideal figure.

It is highly recommended that you enrol with a proper gym if your aim is body-building. Not only will you be able to stay motivated, you will also get the kind of guidance and equipment that is required for bodybuilding. Once you have joined the gym you need to develop a proper gym program to ensure that you can extract the most out of your efforts.

You should first start by formulating an exercise timetable for yourself. An instructor from the gym can assist you with developing goals and plan that you need to abide by to achieve them. You must make sure that your whole week is properly planned, including what workouts you will perform, how much weight you will lift and what number of times you will be repeating a particular exercise on a particular day.

You should first make yourself mentally prepared before you start your daily exercises. Any quantum of laziness or relaxation should be first overcome, because these might interfere with your regimen and may also be detrimental to your health. To remain committed to your programme, you should maintain high levels of dedication and remain in a competitive and spirited mood.

Once you begin your gym program you must keep a record of how well you are progressing. This will help in keeping things on track and you will feel that you are in full control of your program. Besides, when you have your progress recorded on paper, your motivation levels will increase and also your desire to attain your objective.

If you have registered with a good gym with experienced staff, they must be able to guide you about the technique that you should follow for a specific exercise in your gym plan. But in case you have been assigned an inexperienced instructor, you must cross check that the techniques he is teaching you are not unscientific or unsafe by surfing bodybuilding websites or taking assistance from a good book on this subject.

Finally, your diet plan forms a critical element of a gym program. All good gyms have qualified dieticians, who can suggest you what and how much to eat so that you get adequate quantity of carbohydrates and proteins to complement your exercise regime.

Training With Submission Fighting Technique Is Good Fitness Exercising

By Vincent Grammar

When many men think of the term submission fighting, it probably sounds like something you wouldn't like to take part in, but a lot are seeing that submission fighting can be just as a special sport to control.

This kind of fight training can literally change the way you look at life. You will as well get a solid exercise with this sort of activeness. While this isn't a sport that just anybody would like to start, many guys see it extremely engaging, life changing, and naturally fun to study. If you want to test yourself to learn submission fighting, you may determine that even if you're fairly fit you'll be exhausted and sore when you first begin conditioning.

The viewers usually don't realize how difficult it is, but this kind of sport requires that your whole body is in great shape in most areas and not just your legs, arms, or chest. This mode of fighting will give you a total workout and a cardio workout in which you will find changes coming quite rapidly. Most individuals that are concerned in this sport report effects like losing weight, gaining lean muscle mass, and over the course, they develop more ability and vitality to do all the things that they like more than only for sparring and conditioning.

It could be tough to get into submission fighting and to do it safely because a lot of the classes and coaches out there are not that knowledgeable. Prior to starting with any faculty, you should make sure that they're qualified and are a pro. You can harm yourself and you could damage other folks incidentally if you're not trained in the right way. This manner of fighting is mostly about control and establishing the utmost effect with minimum effort. These kind of things need to be taught appropriately.

Some folk find classes that have programs locally but soon find that they just can't make it to the classes sufficient enough to make it worth it to pay for them. However with the progression of the on line website, you can learn all the identical techniques that you would learn in the class room, but presented the information on line, you can immediately learn and practice at the location and time it is accessible for you. The web site also offers streaming video so you can actually have your offense at any day or night time.

The Beatles Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Review

By James Ronald Wellingston

This album has become like a "museum piece" because of the way people talk about it with such reverence. Unfortunately this means that not enough people are focusing on what makes the album special in the first place: the music. This article is an attempt to take this album out of the museum and into the ears by focusing on it's music instead of it's "historical significance."

01. "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" - This opening track really sets the mood for the entire album. The song shifts styles abruptly just like the album does from song to song. And of course the crowd noise and the entire "Sgt. Pepper" concept are introduced here.

02. "With a Little Help from my Friends" - The perfect song for Ringo Starr to sing. John Lennon & Paul McCartney wrote this song together specifically for Ringo to sing which I think makes the great lyrics all that much greater (think of them in that context.)

03. "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" - This psychedelic journey through the mind of John Lennon remains one of the band's most famous songs. I love how it goes from the visions of the verse to the exciting sing along of the chorus.

04. "Getting Better" - The "it couldn't get much worse" lyric that Lennon added to this McCartney song is such a great example of the way that Lennon and McCartney made each others songs better even when they weren't righting them "eyeball to eyeball" like in the early days.

05. "Fixing a Hole" - I love this kind of more subtle psychedelia. And yes, this is a very psychedelic song. And how about those lyrics? Anyone who doesn't think McCartney could write lyrics should pay close attention to these.

06. "She's Leaving Home" - Another great reason to get The Beatles in Mono Box Set. This song sounds faster and higher (by a semitone) in the mono version. It's a treat to hear!

07. "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite" - What a deliciously weird song this is. It's brilliant how "far out" this album takes you. It's like a journey to different parts of the world (and certainly there is time traveling involved as well.)

08. "Within You Without You" - Speaking of "far out" how about we go all the way to India? Some people don't like this song because it doesn't fit with their preconceived notions of what music is supposed to sound like. To me this song is brilliant because of that very reason. We shouldn't limit ourselves.

09. "When I'm 64" - Check out this song sequencing. We went from a 1800s circus to India to do some meditating and now we're enjoying ourselves this very tongue in cheek music hall number. So many differnet styles of music are explored on this album, and they are all done brilliantly.

10. "Lovely Rita" - In an album filled with stand-out tracks, this one is probably somewhat forgettable in comparison. Of course it's still a great song.

11. "Good Morning Good Morning" - There's some interesting time changes in this one. I also love the Jimi Hendrix style guitar leads by Paul McCartney.

12. "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)" - This song, of course, ties together the whole album by linking us back to the first song. It gives the impression that everything we've been hearing (even though it's all of these wildly different styles) has been a part of one big performance by this fictional band.

13. "A Day in the Life" - In my opinion this is the best song ever written. An absolutely epic way to end the album.

2010 Lotus Exige Scura

By Arhur Monderos

While a majority of automakers are bailing out of the Tokyo Motor Show, it is nice to see that there will indeed be a few new models to look at when it comes to be show time. One such vehicle will be a special edition sports car from he light weight English race car builders at Lotus. While the boffins from across the pond have already engineered every unnecessary ounce out of the Exige in the hopes of creating a hard core driving experience, this particularly dark model focuses on making the little Lotus as sinister looking as it is lethal. The special edition Tokyo Motor Show Lotus Exige is named the Scura, which is the Italian word for dark, due to its dramatic black bodywork and a GT3 inspired rear end.

Priced at around $75,000 the Exige Scura features a trio of Phantom Black stripes to break up the large panels of matte black paint, however the carbon fiber bits and suede wrapped racing buckets go a bit further towards showing off the Scura's true purpose of being an all out competition vehicle. Only now instead of laughing at bright orange bodywork, other drivers will stay out of this Lotus' way. Like all Exige models the Scura is powered by a supercharged four cylinder engine that delivers a maximum output of 257 HP 174 lb-ft of torque, while it can sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in only 4 seconds and reach a top speed of 152 MPH.

Lotus Cars unveils its latest special edition - the Exige Scura, so called due to its dramatic matt black and carbon fibre theme, at the Tokyo International Motorshow on 21st of October 2009.

Translated as 'dark' from Italian, the name 'Scura' reflects the stealth character of this already fierce looking Lotus and its stunning soft-feel matt black paint finish. Limited to just 35 cars globally, this Exige evokes a desire to 'indulge your dark side'. This is a serious looking car and enhancements to performance and a reduction in weight from the production level Exige S means that the Exige Scura demands to be driven by a serious driver.

Contrasting high gloss 'Phantom Black' triple stripes run the length of the car and a carbon fibre front splitter, oil cooler inlet vanes, side airscoops and rear spoiler enhance the stunning distinction between the different textures and exaggerate the tactile quality of the velvety touch to the matt black paint finish.

Luke Bennett, Director of Lotus Cars said, "The Exige Scura is a stunning vehicle which offers an adrenaline fuelled experience and is a real head-turner! Our Exige customers choose Lotus because we deliver thrilling performance and dynamic design and this special edition fits the bill on both counts.

The New Tractor Ray

By James Pynn

The double-time march of technology moves so quickly it's hard keep pace. In fact, I only recently have finished converting all my music tapes with CDs. And it only took me 10 years to do it. Admittedly, I still enjoy dusting of my cassettes and clunking down on my circa 1988 boom box, but only occasionally -- and only when my wife is not around.

Imagine my dread when the iPod entered the picture. I knew the writing was on the wall with regards to my CD collection. The problem is, which one do I use? The Touch? The Nano? The Mosquito? I think a waiting strategy is in order. By the time I have the cash to buy one, the newest one will be on the market. But I digress.

As I was scanning the new releases, looking for something to watch for the weekend, I couldn't help but notice the 60-inch HDTV playing a Disney cartoon. It was hard to turn my head away from it as it dealt with talking animals. I was so mesmerized I forgot why I was there. I forgot my name, the time, even where I lived. The Technicolor brilliance of the images moving on the screen had me thoroughly enthralled. Then, faintly -- in the distance -- I heard honking.

I'm not sure how much time passed, when my wife swept in and shook me by the shoulders. "What's wrong with you?" she asked. "You've been standing there for ten minutes -- didn't you hear me honking?" I brushed her aside and noticed the Blu-Ray player bolted underneath the screen. It was a revelation. I started blinking again and cleared my vision to see the shelves directly in front of me were filled with Blu-Ray discs.

The remainder of the night was spent tossing my VHS collection and unplugging my video cassette player. I had rented a stack of brilliant new DVDs and was eager to get my new Blu-Ray player up and running. Covered in eager sweat, I finally settled down to watch my first rental around 10 o'clock. But something struck me -- where did my wife go?

Capt. Brooks And Fishing On A Winter's Day

By Captain Robert Brooks

I finally had an evening trip this week with two clients. The clients couldn't cast for beans at the beginning, but after a few lessons and practice... they were way better at hitting our target areas.

With a front approaching at around 7pm this evening, we had strong southeast winds that really uprooted a bunch of sea grass. It was hard to retrieve baits without picking up a bunch of grass and killing the bait's action. The grass was covering the bait totally in many good places that were holding good numbers of redfish and a few speckled trout here and there. Both species were following the baits but wouldn't strike it, they knew something was wrong! The clients all watched cast after cast, really thirsty for the hit that just wasn't happening.

We decided to try our luck somewhere to get out of the wind, but that was similar to the 18-30 feet water we just left. We found some bigger redfish, although there were not as many of them, in similar areas, sandy bottom with some cracked oyster shells, that didn't have as much dead, sea grass to contend with.

Working the Pink Hologram Devil Eye on a 1/16 oz. TruLoc jig head, slowly up and down, we thought we would have better results than with darker colors since the water was so clear. We were right, within a few attempts we had redfish chasing after the lures. When my clients saw the redfish following the bait and swirling the water they got so excited they kept retrieving the lure, so fast in fact, the fish couldn't catch it. I had to tell them to relax, and wait to set the hook once you feel the strike, since they needed to present the bait in front of the fish, with such clear conditions. The redfish started wolfing the lures down.

Five of them got solid hits that were hooked deep so they were able to boat their limits of reds in the 24" to 26.5" range fairly quickly.

So then we decided to try for speckled trout in another area, since we had done so well with the redfish. A channel near the flats with sand and mixed grass beds provided cover and we tried the same action except the color was sandier here. One client rigged with a Root Beer Devil Eye and the other with a Strawberry one, were getting all the hits, and there were trout to 21" and plenty of them.

The holes on the flats held the largest trout but there were not as many of them as there were smaller, keeper fish that were holding on the drop off to the channel but were still some nice looking fish. In less than 4 hours, they had a lot of action counting the ones they released and they kept 14 of the speckled trout!

We never lost any of the new TruLoc jig heads, mainly because of the good quality, sharp hooks, and only lost the tails on two lures that got smashed by redfish and you just can't help that when they're slamming them like they were. I really like those jig heads for a good, strong, hook set.

A Beginner's Introduction to Carp Fishing Gear

By Tony G. Stevenson

Carp fishing is a popular hobby that has a long tradition in Europe, and is growing in the States, as well. Carp are known to thrive in almost any type of water, making them an easy to find and attractive fish to angle for. All fishermen know that no matter what you're chasing, good angling gear is needed.

There might be no piece of fishing gear more important than the rod. If you want a suitable fishing rod for carp, you will wan to find one that is at least medium action, and also at least six feet in length. For beginners, this is an ideal rod to get into this type of fresh water angling.

When you're considering fishing rods, obviously you also need to consider reels. Open faced reels should also be the only type you consider, although this is true of almost any good fishing rod. In addition, you want the reel to be large enough to hold at least 150 yards 12 pound test line.

Carp tend to like bait as opposed to tackle. While these fish have voracious appetites, they definitely prefer smelly bait to actual plastic lures. So try looking around for quality carp bait.

If you're a beginning carp angler, you may have heard of pods. Pods are basically rod holders that many carpers use to get more than one line out there while waiting for the carp to bite. This isn't a tool that beginning anglers need to worry about, but if carping becomes an obsession, it's something to look at down the line.

Without the right fishing line, the rest is moot. For carp the absolute "lightest" fishing line you want is 12 pound test line. Heavier line isn't a bad idea, either.

While advanced fishing tackle and gear is going to cost more, the good news is that beginners can get started for pretty cheap. While fishing might not be the least expensive of hobbies, learning to carp fish is a deeply rewarding hobby that provides hours more entertainment than a movie or night out to an expensive bar.

Every angler knows you have to have the right gear to get the job done. If you want to really enjoy carp fishing, get the right tackle and gear early on and you'll be glad you did.

Understanding point spreads

By Simon M Skinner

Every sport that you are able to bet on will have a point spead system.

Inexperienced bettors who do not understand college football point spreads may not understand the system. Point spreads are of interest because sports analysts often refer to these although one must bear in mind that you are not legally allowed to bet in all areas of the US.

A knowledge of point spreads will increase your understanding of the sport and of the teams and this will also increase your chances of maximizing your betting wins.

Understanding college football spreads means that you have to understand sports betting in general. All sports have a point spread or line associated with them. These are determined on a game-by-game basis between the two teams that are playing each other.

For example, if the University of Oklahoma is playing the University of Texas then there is going to be a point spread associated with the game.

Any two teams are rarely equal in skills and experience one team will therefore have a better chance of winning the game depending on the teams this can be a large number.

In a game between OU and UT, the point spread is going to be less because the teams are pretty well matched in regards to skills and competition level.

Because it is often obvious that there is one team that is much better than another, there is the point spread. If you were allowed to simply bet on the better team, then 50% of the time all bettors will win. The point spread means that the team has to win the game by a certain number of points.

One final example would be if UT is favored, on the point spread by 8 over OU, then UT would have to win by 9 points. If UT wins by 8 then it is essentially a draw, also known as a push. You would neither lose nor win if they won by 8 points.
