An Exciting Snowmobile Cruise In Yellowstone

By George Ross

Winter in Yellowstone Park is a perfect time and place for a holiday tour. Sparkling under a heavy blanket of glistening snow, this natural reserve is beckoning everyone to enjoy the ice blanketed wildlife.

Teeming in wildlife under a sapphire sky, the regions 10,000 hydrothermal features is an interesting contrast to the seemingly icy and cold landscape. I couldnt think of a safer, comfortable, and enjoyable way to explore the park than by a snowmobile. Before you embark on the tour, be sure to suit yourself up in insulated snow suits, gloves, boots and helmets.

One usually starts a tour on the south entrance of Yellowstone National Park. After a safety orientation, you can now glide your snowmobile on the wide groomed roads of the park. If you want you can stop for lunch at Old Faithful, or you can go on and cruise your rig along the banks of the Madison River. There you can pause to view the thundering herd of wild bison that spends winter in this area. After a day of touring, you can exit at the west entrance and spend the night at the Stagecoach Inn which is a historic hotel located at the center of all hustle bustles in West Yellowstone, Montana.

Before mounting your rig on day two, you might want to check out the Grizzly Discovery Center in West Yellowstone. The bears do not hibernate in winter because they are continuously fed. The center also houses wolves that are active and visible to tourists. You can then re enter the park and head north on your snowmobile. You will be passing through the geysers of the Norris Basin. There will be enough time for you to enjoy and view the Park Service Interpretative displays and the thermal area at Mammoth Springs. You can cruise along the banks of the Gibbon River which will take you to your night's lodging in Gardiner, Montana

At the start of day three you probably would think you have seen all that needs to be seen, but you will find that theres more. A snowmobile trip to the frozen waterfalls of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone is an adventure you dont want to miss. The trip provides for big game observations and unbelievable high country scenery. On this final day, you will be traveling through the Hayden Valley which many tourists and snowmobile riders consider to be the highlight of the Yellowstone Winter Tour. Photo opportunity moments and scenes are just endless. You then coast along the shores of Yellowstone Lake and you will find yourself returning to the south entrance of the park where you started your journey. From there you can take the highway on a regular ride through Grand Teton National Park to Jackson. That practically concludes your snowmobile adventure in Yellowstone Winter.

Numerous snowmobile owners rank the Yellowstone tour at the top of the choices for winter holiday excursions. The majestic scenery and teeming wildlife compliments the thrill of an exciting snowmobile rush. These elements combine to make a perfect concoction of an exciting wild trip in the icy world.

You can bring your snowmobile to enjoy not just a fun and crazy ride in the snow but in places where you can view natures wild breathtaking art in all its majesty.
