With The First Communion Banner You Can Personalize Your Child's Holy Day

By Sue McGrath

A First Communion banner should certainly be on your list if you are planning a First Communion celebration, among with the other one million and one things that go with a party like this. This article will give you some ideas on what type of banner to go with, as well as how to save some money on banners in general and what sizes you'll need.

Of course, your first choice is what to put on the banner. Now, you can often find First Communion banners and other First Communion party supplies at regular party supply stores, especially in larger cities with a significant Catholic population, but many choose to get personalized First Communion banners instead.

However, there are a couple of ideas to consider before buying generic or getting a custom made banner from a copy shop or printing company. If you have someone with artistic skills, whether they be actual paint-and-palette skills or simply computer design skills you can get a banner made for much less.

If you want to go with a printed banner from a coffee shop then if you don't include any design then you'll likely spend an average of one hundred to one hundred and fifty bucks for your 1st Communion banner. If you look online however, you will find that there are many online printers offering better deals and your First Holy Communion banners may not be that much.

You'll want a banner that is large enough to see, so I recommend one that is at least six feet long as two or two and a half feet wide. You can even go up to eight or ten feet if you want. Outdoor vinyl is a good choice for your banner and you can attach strings to the end of it to tie it up high where it will be instantly visible.

However, for those of you that like the homemade idea, then you can cut out your own piece of vinyl or whatever material you choose and set your artist to work with some paints. You can print out images and letters off your computer onto heavy paper and cut them into stencils or use stencils purchased from a store.

Whatever you decide to do, you should probably put the date of the First Communion as well as your Child's name so that when you are looking through pictures later you will know from the banner exactly what those pictures are from, but you can be as creative with your 1st Holy Communion personalized banner as you'd like.

First Communion banners don't require much cost or effort, especially if you are using a family member to make them and they make a big difference in the party, as well as allowing guests who are driving up to see the banner and know they are in the right place. Good luck with your First Communion celebration.
