Stress Training Begins With Base Phrase

By Alison Addy

Base training is the foundation of stress training. If the cyclist wants to bring out all his potential out of this training, he should plan properly, monitor and act simultaneously. It concerns only the volume of workout and the time spent on cycling. In spite of being at any fitness level, every cyclist can take up this base phase program for putting strong foundations in stress training. The total time for this base training may range from 8 to 12 weeks. The cyclist is at his choice to carry out this training to a longer time to improve his season. He should go through the base phase entirely during many races at the beginning of his season. He cannot overwork with greater intensity during that limited period of base training before preparing for participating in early season races.

To start with, the cyclist should try lesser distances during the first few weeks. The distances to be covered per week will depend on each cyclist's fitness level. He should plan the maximum distance he will be riding in the final phase. Using the distance he fixed for initial phase and that of his final phase, he can chart out the volume progression during the total phase of base training. If a cyclist wants to start at 200 kilometers/week and his goal is 500 kilometers/week, he can chart out as 200, 300, 250, 300, 375, 400, 350, 400, 450, 475, 425 and 500 kilometers per each successive week for 12 weeks. There is no continuous increase in the volume every week. Sometimes it increases and decreases to reach the peak volume after twelve weeks. A decrease in the distance means that it is a rest week. During this time, the body is allowed to relax and recover. The body grows stronger when there is recovery period and gets the stamina to ride more distances. After this set of cycling base training, he sets volume goals for each day. When the first week is over, rest days are allotted to increase fitness.

If lesser distances are designed as the goal, riding is confined to 4 days a week. Cyclists in advanced stage may set only one day for rest while riding longer distances as the volume goal.

Base phase program is supplemented by running. Running is done as a cross training program for cycling to increase his aerobic capacity due to impact of the feet on the ground.

By Jeff Aronnsen

The drum head is one of the most critical parts a drummer's equipment. The bass drummer knows without the right head, their abilities will be inferior and their sound will not be the best it can be. Terrible sound is best avoided by having a quality bass drum head. When selecting a bass drum head you will have a lot of choices in the competitive market, so you have to make many considerations so you end up with the right head.

One thing that you have to consider when picking out a replacement bass drum head is that this is a very personal choice. Every drummer has their own taste, whether it is a brand or style. You will probably find one type of drum head that you prefer over the rest. This is fine and this is normal. Selecting a drum head is very personal, so listen to the advice of others, but in the end you have to pick out the drum head that works for you.

There are infinite choices when choosing bass drum head. This can make the selection process overwhelming. The alternatives run from one ply to two ply and coated to non-coated just to name a few. Then you have to pick out a brand and of course the appropriate size. Each choice has its pros and cons.

Some common options are single ply, double ply and self muting. Single ply drum heads are normally used in factory installs and they have a broad sound. Double ply drum heads are considered an upgrade to single ply. They are durable and work great for pop or rock music. Self muting drum heads are used to control high pitches and reduce sustains.

As you will find, some types of drum heads are more long-lasting, some may produce better tones and others may provide you with some other characteristic that you want. Each choice has something about it that sticks out. You will need to not only pick out the drum head that matches your drum, but that will also work with your style of playing and the sound that you are trying to reach.

It is not always obvious when to switch your drum head. The best indicator is when your desired sound begins to change. This is most often directly tied to an older drum head. If you are still using your starter drum head then it may be time to look for a replacement. Another indicator is wear and tear. Does the surface of your drum head look beaten up or worn in different areas?

You will, most importantly, need to replace your drum head when it no longer produces a sound that is compatible with the style of music you are playing. You always want your drum to compliment the music you create with the right sound. It does not matter how new or in what condition you find your drum head, if the sound no longer compliments your style of playing it is time to replace it.

Sydney Roosters Aim To Sign Tuqiri

By Byron Riley

Collectors of rugby league memorabilia have a new reason to be excited because the Sydney Roosters are poised to sign former Wallaby star Lote Tuqiri. Team brokers are preparing to make Tuqiri a significant offer to get him to Sydney for the next season. Tuqiri will have to take a pay cut but it may be worth it to him to get back into the league after being dismissed from the league and having his contract terminated.

If Tuqiri accepts the Roosters' offer, the value of rugby league signed merchandise bearing the player's name is certain to greatly increase. The deal looks likely, though it does hinge on a few factors - new Roosters coach Brian Smith's assent and if the team drops Setaimata Sa's contract. Collectors sadly won't be seeing any West Tigers jerseys or other Tigers-related rugby league memorabilia with Tuqiri's name, since the Tigers have dropped out of negotiations following Tuqiri's announcement that he had no intention of signing with the club.

All of the negotiations are currently going well under the radar, with the Roosters even denying that they've been talking with Tuqiri or anyone on his management team. Rugby league memorabilia collectors and fans may just have to be patient to see this star player take the field once again as well as having the chance to get their hands on new gear with Tuqiri's name emblazoned on it.

Tuqiri is a fan favorite and the Roosters would definitely like to be able to add this star to their team. Right now it all comes down to whether the club will be able to make Tuqiri an offer which is too good to pass up. It currently appears that the Roosters are the only team in contention to sign Tuqiri, with the Bulldogs out of the running due to the increase in Brian Goodwin's contract and their signing of Junior Tia Kilifi and Mickey Paea. The Gold Coast Titans have announced that they've also decided not to pursue Tuqiri.

While all of this is going on, the rugby league Supreme Court is reviewing Tuqiri's expulsion from the league with lawyers from the league and Tuqiri's management both in favor of the dispute being resolved in an expedient manner. As for Tuqiri himself, he's been playing club rugby after taking three months away from the game.

In the meantime, Turqiri's case is still being reviewed by the leagues Supreme Court and lawyers from both sides are arguing for changes in the dispute. Turqiri himself has been playing club rugby after a three month break

The biggest rugby league memorabilia are balls, jerseys and shorts. Having rugby league signed gear makes it worth a whole lot more. Rugby is a rough game so most of the gear that has been used in game play shows the tears and stains that make it look authentic. And that is where the real value is. Of course, the best is getting signed gear from big name players like Turqiri.

Fans all over the world are thrilled by the prospect of seeing him play again and the Roosters have high hopes for their club should they be able to lure Tuqiri to their roster.
